KBL: Quiambao scores 36, Goyang edges Wonju

MANILA – Kevin Quiambao had a scintillating performance as the Goyang Sono Skygunners scored an 86-82 victory over Wonju DB Promy in the Korean Basketball League over the weekend at the Goyang Sono Arena.

The former De La Salle University Green Archers star finished with a double-double of 36 points and 12 rebounds to go with three assists and two steals as the Skygunners improved to an 11-24 win-loss slate.

Despite delivering his best game in the KBL, Quiambao stated after the game that he was still not satisfied with his performance, as he promised to continue improving as the season progresses.

“I played very well in the first half, but the second half was terrible. I have to do better next time,” Quiambao said. “There are still many games left. I want to show more of my skills.”

Lee Jae-do added 17 markers, including three outside conversions, while DJ Burns Jr. ended with 12 points, seven assists, and five rebounds as the Skygunners snapped a four-game losing skid.

Lee Gwan-hee led the Promy with 29 points, with seven outside connections, while Filipino-American Ethan Alvano added 18 markers and eight assists as they dropped to a 16-20 card.

Meanwhile, Negrense Samjosef Belangel tallied a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds as Daegu Korea Gas Corporation Pegasus (19-16) pulled off a 72-69 escape over Seoul Samsung Thunders (11-23).

JD Cagulangan, on the other hand, finished with six points as Suwon KT Sonicboom (20-15) prevailed over the defending champions Busan KCC Egis (15-19), 95-84./PN
