MANILA – Former President Rodrigo Duterte was happy to learn about his “landslide victory” as Davao City mayor in the just-concluded midterm elections, his younger brother Bong said.
In a Facebook live video aired by former presidential spokesman Harry Roque, Bong said Duterte smiled when he learned about his election.
“He’s very happy when I told him we got an overwhelming vote,” said Bong. “He would like to thank all those who supported him.”
“From the bottom of his heart talagang nagpapasalamat siya sa mga sumuporta sa kanya,” he added.
The Davao election board has already proclaimed the former President as the winner of the mayoral race, with the official tally showing that he garnered over 660,000 votes.
Bong added that his brother is “doing well” despite being detained at The Hague in the Netherlands for almost two months now.
“Medyo malungkot lang because he cannot (relate) sa outside world talaga so I had to brief him,” he said.
“The last time I saw him sa Davao pa, ‘pag nagkukuwentuhan kami sa bahay,” he added./PN
