LEGAL WOES TO HINDER POSSIBLE PACQUIAO BOXING RETURN IN US

Manila – Filipino ring icon and outgoing senator Manny Pacquiao’s possible boxing return in the United States will be hindered by his ongoing legal issues with the Paradigm Sports Management at the Superior Court of California.

Panay News learned from a source that the Paradigm Sports is determined to go after the eight-division world boxing champion by filing legal cases against him everytime he schedules a fight in US.

“It’s going to be too difficult for Senator Pacquiao to fight in the US again because of the cases against him before the Superior Court of California,” according to a source who spoke on condition of anonymity.

“The case is still ongoing, so every time Senator Pacquiao fights even against anyone, Paradigm Sports Management will file another legal case against him,” he added.

The source further said that the only way Pacquiao could fight again in the US is if he settles his case with Paradigm Sports, shows remorse and apologizes for turning back on his obligations.

The issue originated when Pacquiao signed a deal with Paradigm Sports to fight Mikey Garcia before the Filipino ring icon signed a separate contact to battle Errol Spence Jr. months later.

Paradigm Sports have attempted to stop Pacquiao’s supposed fight with Spence, who was later replaced by Yordenis Ugas, after the court in Orange County didn’t grant them the preliminary injunction. But the case stays ongoing between the parties.

MP Promotions head Sean Gibbons has recently said that the 43-year-old Pacquiao is plotting a possible boxing return this year after losing in the just-concluded presidential race.

“Pacquiao is open for a possible return fight against undefeated and retired American boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. but it should happen this year,” Gibbons said in an interview with Joe Hewlett of PLANETSPORT.

Pacquiao retired from boxing last September 29 to pursue his presidential bid after losing to Ugas via unanimous decision last August 21. But he only finished third among presidential candidates in the last election, won by incoming President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr.
