
BACOLOD City – Foreign Affairs secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. will lead this year’s Outstanding Negrosanon awardees.
Locsin, whose family roots are in Silay City, Negros Occidental, will receive the award for Public Service.
The four other awardees are Rodolfo Reveche, who will be recognized for his contribution to Culture and Arts Promotion for Community Development; Jesus Antonio Orbida on Organic Farming; Charlie Co, Visual Arts; and chef Fernando Aracama, Culinary Tourism.
They will be honored by the provincial government during the Pasidungog ceremony on Nov. 5.
The awarding rites, to be led by Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson and Vice Gov. Jeffrey Ferrer, will take place at the Provincial Capitol Social Hall.
It will be part of the province’s commemoration of the Cinco de Noviembre as the day the Negrenses bluffed the Spaniards to gain freedom in 1898.
The program will include the tableau presentation of “The First Bloodless Revolution” by the Kanlaon Theatre Guild of the Colegio San Agustin Bacolod.
Nov. 5 is a special non-working holiday in Negros Occidental under Republic Act 6709 signed by former president Corazon Aquino dated Feb. 10, 1989.(With a report from PNA/PN)
