MAINE Mendoza seemed annoyed after a netizen accused her of using ChatGPT in crafting her statement about her past affection for her former love team partner Alden Richards.
The TV host-actress earlier made a lengthy X post stressing she did not intend to spark a controversy with her admission of her past feelings for Richards.
One netizen then responded to this and apparently implied that Mendoza used ChatGPT — an AI chatbot that responds and interacts in a human-like manner — to write her statement.
“Thank you, ChatGPT,” the X user said in a now-deleted comment.
This did not sit well with the TV host who, in turn, underscored, “Nakaka-offend sa mga taong noon pa nagsusulat at normal na gumagamit ng em dash.”
Several netizens then chimed in, pointing out that Mendoza has been eloquent and that she had already been known for her blogs even before she entered show business.
Mendoza earlier looked back on her love team with Richards in an episode of “Eat Bulaga’s” “Tamang Panahon” podcast. She admitted she fell in love with the actor, although they did not progress into having a relationship because Richards didn’t romantically pursue her.
“All is well between the individuals involved, particularly me and Alden,” Mendoza stressed. There is no reason to exclude him from the story/our stories, despite his absence, because he was a big part of Kalyeserye — and it would have felt strange to leave him out.”
“There was no intention to provoke criticism or negativity towards him or anyone else. I was asked, I answered, and I shared a short anecdote,” she added.
Despite this, Mendoza and Richards have remained friends, with the actor attending the former’s birthday party last March.
