ILOILO – A 36-year-old man was arrested in an entrapment operation executed by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)-Iloilo Provincial Field Unit on Tuesday, April 1, for violating Republic Act No. 9995 (Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009) and Article 286 (Grave Coercion) of the Revised Penal Code.
According to Lieutenant Marlon Ayson of CIDG-Iloilo, the arrest of alias “John” in Barangay Apologista, Sara, Iloilo followed complaints from the latter’s former partner, alias “Angel,” a 36-year-old businesswoman from Jaro, Iloilo City.
She reported that the suspect had been threatening to spread nude photos and videos of her unless she met with him and provided money.
The operation took place at the bus terminal Ceres where the victim was instructed to hand over P2,000 in marked money to the suspect. John had originally demanded P20,000 but the victim was only able to give a smaller amount.
In an interview with Panay News, Ayson stated, “The man threatened to spread the victim’s nude photos and videos if she didn’t meet with him and give him money. We conducted the entrapment operation after the victim reached out to us for help.”
It was revealed that both the victim and the suspect were previously married, but both had since separated from their respective spouses and had children from previous relationships. The victim expressed concerns over her safety and that of her children, as the suspect had also been allegedly involved in illegal drug use./PN
