Man who tried to disarm police officer shot to death

BACOLOD City – A man who ran amuck in Barangay 6-A Victorias City, Negros Occidental was shot to death by policemen.

Samuel Palencia – a native of Cadiz City, Negros Occidental – allegedly tried to disarm a police officer around 2 a.m. on Thursday.

He sustained multiple gunshot wounds on the body and was rushed to the Ikaayong Lawas Foundation Hospital in Victorias for treatment.

But attending physician Dr. Gilda Lim pronounced him “dead on arrival.”

According to the police, Samuel created alarm and scandal when he confronted his younger brother Leodegario Palencia while wielding a bolo. The two had an altercation.

Police Officer 1 Tristan Palmes – who was in the vicinity at the time – approached the Palencias and introduced himself as a cop.

He fired a warning shot when Samuel threatened to hack his brother.

Samuel then tried to disarm and hack Palmes, police said.

Police Officer 2 Noe Leraje and Police Officer 3 Rommel Maru helped their colleague. They fired at Samuel.

According to the cops, Samuel faces an arrest warrant in relation to a murder charge.
