ILOILO City – A man allegedly suffering from a nervous breakdown was collared for stabbing his minor neighbor on Wednesday afternoon in Barangay Aquino-Nobleza East, Janiuay, Iloilo.
Suspect Mateo Renovar, 28, was detained at the Janiuay police station.
The 15-year-old victim, on the other hand, died of multiple stab wounds. He was by the roadside outside their house playing mobile games when Renovar suddenly attacked him with a 13-inch knife for no apparent reason.
According to Janiuay chief Captain Alwin Salmon, the victim was brought to the Federico Roman Tirador Sr. Memorial District Hospital also in Janiuay where he was declared dead by attending physician Dr. Ben Martin Sindingan.
“Wala sila nag away kaso lang basi wala naka-take bulong nya [Renovar] kag gin abot amo to gin buno nya,” Salmon said.
The victim’s family is determined to press charges.
“May kaso ra (Renovar) nga daan gin pyansahan lang ni nanay na. Mangayo kami bulig. Bana ko scrapper lang man, bag-o pa operahan sa appendicitis. Ang isa ka bata ko, isa pa lang ka bulan nga napatay man; preska pa, tapos ja duman,” victim’s mother said in an interview with Zarraga News LIVE Station./PN
