GUIMARAS – This year’s edition of the Manggahan Festival officially kicked off on May 16 with a ceremonial mango picking, symbolizing the rich agricultural heritage and world-renowned sweetness of Guimaras mangoes.
It was followed by Gov. JC Rahman A. Nava’s official declaration of the opening of the Manggahan Festival 2025, marking the beginning of the island province’s grandest celebration that will run until May 25.
The governor added that the provincial government allotted P42-million for this year’s festival – bigger than last year’s budget of P34 million.
For her part, Congresswoman Ma. Lucille L. Nava emphasized that the Manggahan Festival serves as a showcase of Guimaras’ vibrant agricultural heritage and the enduring resiliency of the Guimarasnons, underscoring the island’s continued progress despite challenges.
“This celebration is not just a festivity, but a vibrant showcase of our rich agricultural heritage, our world famous mangoes, and the resilient spirit of Guimarasnons,” she said.
Among the highlights of the festival is the mango-eat-all-you can at Trade Fair Center near the provincial capitol ground, where visitors can feast on the sweetest mangoes in 30 minutes for P100.
A total of 13 tons of sweet mangoes will be offered at the mango-eat-all-you this year.
The Regional Agri-Eco Trade Fair, meanwhile brought together exhibitors from various provinces across Western Visayas, along with local participants. It showcases agricultural products, eco-friendly innovations, and livelihood goods that support sustainable and inclusive regional development.
Other highlights include the streetdancing competition and anniversary program and provincehood night on May 22, Miss Guimaras coronation night on May 23, and cultural competition on May 25.
