MANILA – President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has rolled out a new online platform empowering Filipinos to track and report on the government’s P545-billion flood control program, underscoring public vigilance as a key weapon against corruption and substandard infrastructure.
Through the newly launched sumbongsapangulo.ph, citizens can access details of ongoing and completed flood control projects nationwide and directly relay feedback or complaints to Malacañang.
“(We) put it into a form that is accessible to the public, and most importantly, it is in a form that the public can use so that they can first identify the flood control projects that are within their area,” Marcos said during a Palace briefing.
“If they already have information, they can tell us about it. Kung maganda ang naging project, kung hindi naging maganda yung project, anong naging problema (what was the problem),” he added.
The President said the initiative—part of a massive program implemented since mid-July 2022—depends heavily on community participation to ensure transparency and uncover irregularities.
“Of course, we want the people who have taken advantage of the system to pay … And if there is evidence of corruption, of embezzlement, of any kind of wrongdoing, that’s when we will move,” he warned.
Marcos emphasized that “more eyes” on the projects means stronger oversight. “We cannot do all of this without the help of the ordinary citizen,” he said, assuring the public: “Ako mismo… babasahin ko bawat isa.”
The portal’s launch comes weeks after the President ordered a full audit of flood control projects in his fourth State of the Nation Address, part of his administration’s bid for greater transparency and accountability in infrastructure spending./PN
