BELISON, Antique – Police arrested two minors for alleged illegal gambling.

The 14-year-old and the 15-year-old were caught placing bets on a basketball game at the town plaza, police said.

Officers seized from them on Sunday alleged bet money worth P3,090.

Both minors were turned over to the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office.

Illegal gambling is punishable under Presidential Decree 1602.

After staging a “war” against illegal drugs, President Rodrigo Duterte issued Executive Order (EO) No. 13, ordering law enforcement and government agencies to curb illegal gambling in the country.

Under the EO, illegal gambling is “a manner of directly or indirectly taking part in a game scheme wherein wagers consisting of money or articles of value at stake … [are] not authorized or licensed by government.”/PN
