ILOILO City – To make voter registration more accessible and inclusive, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) here has rolled out a mobile registration drive across malls, barangays, and schools, targeting to enlist around 20,000 new voters for the 2026 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE).

Election Assistant II Jonathan Sayno said the city’s poll body opted to decentralize the registration process due to limited office space and to reach more residents, especially first-time and youth voters.

“We decided to have it in malls. We will also visit barangays and schools. We already have a schedule starting today until May 18, 2026,” Sayno said.

The first leg of the off-site registration runs from October 20 to 24 at Robinsons Jaro before moving to the barangay hall of M.H. del Pilar in Jaro on October 25.

Sayno explained that the campaign will be done by district to bring services closer to the people and encourage wider participation.

Two types of registration will be conducted — one for youth voters aged 15 to 18 for the SK polls, and another for regular voters.

“We also cater for applications for activation, correction or entry by virtue of marriage or misspelled name, transfer of voting registration record. We also have the Registration Anywhere program here in Iloilo City,” he added.

Comelec-Iloilo City currently has around 330,000 registered voters. The continuing registration will run until May 2026, covering all districts before the nationwide cutoff./PN
