MANILA – Presidential Communications Assistant Secretary Margaux “Mocha” Uson said she is ready to face the battery of charges that Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV filed against her.

“We understand from the news that Sen. Trillanes has filed a complaint with the Ombudsman,” Uson said on her Mocha Uson Blog Facebook page yesterday.

“We will answer within the period given,” said Uson, an entertainer turned blogger staunchly supporting President Rodrigo Duterte who was eventually appointed into a Malacañang office. “Right now we don’t have a copy of it (complaint) yet.”

“Suffice it to say we are confident that this has been filed out of pique and we are ready for anything,” added Uson, who has not responded to Trillanes’ request for her to resign from her position.

Trillanes filed seven charges – six criminal and one administrative (grave misconduct) – against Uson before the Office of the Ombudsman.

He accused the presidential communications official of spreading “fake news” that he owned offshore bank accounts and other unlawful acts.

The criminal charges included three counts of violation of the Cybercrime Prevention Act (libel), and one count each of violation of the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act, violation of the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees, and falsification and use of false documents.

The graft case was for Uson’s alleged use of her position to cause undue harm to another party.

Trillanes also said Uson violated the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees for continuously working as an entertainer even though she was already a public official./PN
