‘More Malasakit centers in WV next year’

ABS-CBN NEWS

Pontevedra, Capiz – There will be additional “Malasakit centers” in Western Visayas next year, according to Sen. Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go.

The Malasakit centers are expected to open on the first quarter of 2020, Go said during his visit here on Saturday to provide assistance to the victims of typhoon “Ursula.”

“Legal documents are now being prepared for the opening of the Malasakit centers in Aklan and Capiz in the first quarter of 2020,” he added.

Prior to his arrival here, Go also visited typhoon victims in nearby Estancia, Iloilo.

A Malasakit center is a “one stop shop” of the different government agencies which gives financial aid to patients in accredited hospitals, targeting a “zero billing” for the indigents.

The government agencies include the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, the Department of Social Welfare and Development, the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, and the Office of the President.

Last year, a Malasakit center was opened in Iloilo City.

In Antique, legal documents are also being prepared for the establishment of its own Malasakit center./PN
