ILOILO City – MORE Electric and Power Corporation (MORE Power), the sole power distributor in this city, successfully maintained an uninterrupted electricity supply throughout the May 12, 2025 national and local elections, the company announced.
After more than 30 hours of continuous monitoring under its Oplan Halalan 2025, MORE Power reported no major power-related incidents affecting polling centers. The company’s response teams addressed several electrical concerns, including a sparking wire in the City Proper, a smoking electrical outlet in Jaro, a pole fire near A. Montes I Elementary School, and brief power fluctuations at Molo and Diversion feeders. Despite these issues, power supply remained stable, and no polling centers experienced outages.
A dedicated team of over 100 personnel was deployed starting at 5 a.m. on election day, and remained on standby until the conclusion of vote canvassing on May 13. Their presence ensured the smooth conduct of the electoral process in two major areas of Iloilo City.
MORE Power’s efforts were part of a coordinated initiative involving the Commission on Elections (Comelec). The company also acknowledged the support of local media partners and the cooperation of Ilonggo voters in reporting field concerns.
“We would like to thank the MORE Power Corporation for supporting us in conducting the national and local elections, given there was no power interruption that happened. The transmission and operation of our automated counting machine were so smooth and the proclamation of the candidates who won was on time,” said Jonathan Sayno, Election Assistant II for Comelec-Iloilo City.
The power distributor reaffirmed its commitment to continuously improve the reliability and quality of electrical service in Iloilo City, emphasizing the importance of stable power supply during critical events such as elections.
This successful operation follows MORE Power’s previous efforts during the 2023 barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections, where it also ensured a 100 percent uninterrupted power supply, demonstrating its capability to support the city’s democratic processes./PN
