MORE Electric and Power Corporation (MORE Power) participated in the city-wide simultaneous tree-planting activity of the Iloilo City Government in relation to the celebration of World Environment Day on June 5, at Iloilo Sunset Boulevard.
The committed employees of MORE Power embraced their roles as eco-warriors as they joined planting close to 500 seedlings of native trees together with the different organizations. This year’s city government program was in partnership with Project TRANSFORM, which is a flagship program of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources. This year’s focus is “Iloilo City Transforms: Tackling Climate Extremes, Disaster Risks, and Plastic Pollution Through Urban Greening.”

This is part of the commitment of MORE Power in combatting the effects of climate change and promoting sustainability towards a greener future. In five years of public service, MORE Power has continued its initiatives in planting trees and various activities for the environment.
“It was a big help for us at Iloilo City Government. MORE Power has always been our partner in all the activities and projects of the Iloilo City Government. These contributions are in line with the one we are celebrating today, which is World Environment Day. This initiative of planting trees together with our stakeholders is a big help because we are already experiencing the effects of climate change and the increase in heat index. This is also one of the things that Mayor Jerry Treñas emphasized. We do really appreciate and recognize the effort of MORE Power in answering our call for this event. Looking forward, I am excited for more collaborations with MORE Power for future projects that we are going to implement,” said Engineer Neil Ravena, head of the city’s General Services Office.

Ever since MORE Power started its service to the Ilonggos, it has conducted different activities that include mangrove and tree planting, coastal clean-up, donation of dita seedlings to the Iloilo City Government and more. It is part of a long-term commitment to the Ilonggo community./PN
