More vaxx teams to achieve 35K vaccinees daily

ILOILO – To vaccinate 35,000 people daily, Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. will deploy more coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination teams to 43 local government units (LGUs) in this province.

The provincial government will tap personnel from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Philippine National Police (PNP) and Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).

Meanwhile, here are the other strategies being pushed by Defensor to boost COVID-19 vaccination:

* reorganize the Local Vaccine Operations Center into a functional and responsive unit;

* revisit the microplans and vaccination plans (human resource, logistics, budget and strategies);

* compute and validate targets of the province and municipal/city LGUs;

* improve supply chain management – conduct of regular inventory versus daily vaccination as accomplishment;

* identify the applicable vaccination strategies to reach vulnerable and special populations and remote areas;

* set the timeline to complete the vaccination;

* designate the data management team – data encoding, data cleaning, data validation and data analysis; and

* conduct refresher orientations/trainings among the vaccination and composite teams as necessary.

As of Oct. 26, a total of 344,973 individuals or 24 percent of the target population in the province were fully vaccinated.

The province targets to inoculate a total of 1,448,757 individuals to reach herd immunity.

Increasing the province’s vaccination coverage would eventually lead to relaxed health protocols and quarantine measures, according to Defensor.

“The more vaccines that we administer, the less strict we are because of our confidence in the vaccines,” he said./PN
