ILOILO City – A municipal government employee and two others were arrested in a drug operation on Saturday, August 30, in Barangay Ilajas, Dingle, Iloilo.
Taken to Dingle Police Station were aliases “Junjun,” 46, of Barangay Agsalanan; “Pol,” 50, a driver of the Dingle local government and a resident of Barangay Licu-an; and “Opel,” 49, of Barangay Ilajas.
Police Colonel Bayani Razalan, director of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO), his men from the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) conducted a buy-bust operation against the suspects at 5:30 p.m.
They recovered a total of 250 grams of illegal drugs with an estimated drug price of P1.7 million, P13,100 in buy-bust money and a homemade caliber .38 revolver.
The operation was executed after nearly a month of monitoring and surveillance following the information provided by concerned citizens.
Police said the suspects were actively engaged in illegal drug activities and their illegal drug supply from Metro Manila and distributed it to neighboring towns.
The three were facing charges for violations of Republic Act (RA) 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and RA 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
Razalan commended the PDEU operatives for their relentless efforts that resulted in the arrest of the said drug suspects.
“Ginadayaw gid naton ang maayo nga performance sang aton PDEU, labi na gid sa pagkatikma sa mga drug personalities. Isa ini ka dako nga kadalag-an sa aton kampanya batok ilegal nga droga. Ginapasalamatan ko man ang padayon nga pagsalig sang aton mga kasimanwa sa ila nga mga Ilonggo cops,” he added./PN
