ILOILO City – A murder complaint against the suspect in the fatal shooting of a young man at Smallville Complex in Barangay San Rafael, Mandurriao district on Aug. 20 will be filed today.
Suspect John Robel Vargas, a resident of Deca Homes 3 residential subdivision in Pavia, Iloilo, remains at large.
The victim, Sean Axel Del Castillo, 21, of Summer View Subdivision, Guzman Street, Mandurriao district, was buried yesterday.
Police Major Rey Marquez Sumagaysay, officer-in-charge of Police Station 5 (Mandurriao) said they have several witnesses.
“Bisan mangayo ka pa pasensya indi gid ko ya magpasensya sa imo,” said Leslie Del Castillo, the victim’s mother, yesterday, directing her statement to Vargas.
Sean Axel Del Castillo was shot in the back. Prior to the shooting, he and Vargas had a row at the Lanai Grill and Sports Bar but were pacified by bouncers.
They continued their dispute outside. A burst of gunfire was heard and Vargas was seen fleeing.
“Indi ka ya Diyos nga kuhaon mo ya ang kabuhi sang bata ko,” said Leslie, further directing her statement to Vargas.
The victim’s family is offering a P100,000 reward money to whoever could give information leading to the successful arrest of Vargas.
Mayor Jerry Treñas has added P50,000 more.
“Justice will prevail. Talagang hindi kami titigil. Lahat ng legal actions gagawin naming,” said Will Botor, representative of the family./PN
