ILOILO City – After nine years in hiding, a carpenter wanted for murder was arrested at his house in Barangay Igcabito-on, Miag-ao, Iloilo.
The 40-year-old alias “Jay-R” was served a warrant of arrest for murder by personnel of the 1st Iloilo Provincial Mobile Force Company (IPMFC), Oton Municipal Police Station, and Regional Mobile Force Battalion 6, at 12:50 p.m. on July 16.
According to Police Lieutenant Colonel Arnel Solis, commander of 1st IPMFC, Jay-R was accused of stabbing to death a farmer sometime in 2016 in Oton town.
“He had been hiding for several years in different places until we received information that he is back in their place. His other companions were already arrested a few years back,” Solis told Panay News.
Solis lauded the police tracker teams for locating and arresting the wanted person.
“This accomplishment clearly showed the results of the strong partnership between the police and the community, and the close coordination of different police units,” he added.
The suspect is now under the custody of Oton police pending turnover to the issuing court for the continuation of judicial proceedings./PN
