BACOLOD City – The provincial government of Negros Occidental has entered into a memorandum of agreement with the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) to provide telemedicine services to communities across the province.
The signing ceremony was held on May 19 at the Governor’s Office and was led by Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson, Department of Health–Negros Island Region (DOH-NIR) director Dr. Razel Nikka Hao, CLMMRH Chief of Hospital Dr. Joan Cerrada, and Negros Occidental Provincial Health Officer Dr. Ma. Girlie Pinongan.
Telemedicine refers to the delivery of healthcare services through electronic telecommunications technologies such as phone calls, chat or short messaging service (SMS), and audio or video conferencing. This enables consultations between a patient in a remote location and a physician based elsewhere, bridging the gap in healthcare access, especially in far-flung areas.
The partnership supports the DOH’s Universal Health Care (UHC) 8-Point Action Agenda, aiming to provide accessible and quality healthcare without the need for patients to travel far from their homes.
CLMMRH has been designated as the Apex Hospital of the Negros Occidental Province-wide Health System, a role formalized through a separate agreement signed last year./PN
