NEGROS Occidental – The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) is outperforming the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) 5-minute response target, recording an average of just three minutes in incident response, according to Deputy Director for Administration Lieutenant Colonel Joem Malong.

During a simulation exercise at the NOCPPO headquarters, Malong said the figure covers even isolated areas, though the 5-minute standard mainly applies to city centers or locations within three to five kilometers from the town proper.

“Beyond that distance, we still respond as fast as possible,” she assured.

The drill, led by NOCPPO director Colonel Rainerio De Chavez, tested real-time readiness without prior notice to responders. Police teams from Valladolid and Pulupandan reached the designated site in Barangay Palaka in under three minutes.

De Chavez clarified that the 5-minute countdown begins only after a report is received and verified through 911, after which the nearest unit is dispatched in full protective gear.

He said NOCPPO has identified “red-prone” areas and strategically positioned personnel to speed up deployment. The public is urged to call 911 instead of local hotlines for faster action, and to avoid prank calls that could delay real emergencies.(Watchmen Daily Journal)/PN
