MANILA – Negrense center Henjz Gabriel “Kobe” Demisana has departed Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles and will reportedly transfer to Adamson University Falcons.
According to a report by All-Star Magazine website, the Pontevedra, Negros Occidental-native center was forced to leave the Blue Eagles camp as he did not meet the Ateneo’s required QPI for student-athletes.
“Demisana chose Adamson as his next stop as he feels this is the best place for him to develop as a basketball player,” stated in an online report written by Naveen Ganglani on Monday.
The 6-foot-8 Demisana has joined to the Blue Eagles last year and has suited up for the school in pre-season tournaments, but he was not lined up for UAAP Season 86 men’s basketball tournament.
Demisana was a former standout of Bacolod Tay Tung High School Thunderbolts before he forced his way out of the school to join the University of the Philippines Integrated School.
In his one-and-done year with the Junior Fighting Maroons two years ago, the 19-year-old Demisana averaged 17.6 points, 12.6 rebounds, 4.1 blocks, 2.6 assists, and 2.1 steals a contest.
The Negrense center was being recruited by other UAAP schools like UP Fighting Maroons, University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers, and Far Eastern University Tamaraws, but he chose to join the Blue Eagles.
Aside from Demisana, Bacolodnon forward Raffy Celis has also opted to leave the Blue Eagles after being sparingly used by head coach Tab Baldwin in UAAP Season 86 last year.
According to a report by Fastbreak website, citing a source, the 6-foot-3 forward is reportedly heading to either Colegio de San Juan de Letran Knights or College of St. Benilde Blazers.
The Blue Eagles reportedly offered Celis to move to another Manny V. Pangilinan-supported team, the reigning NCAA men’s basketball champions San Beda University Red Lions, but the player refused./PN
