MANILA – Negrense Ann Monares has officially signed her rookie contract with the Farm Fresh Foxies, just days after being selected in the second round of the 2025 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Rookie Draft.
The former Far Eastern University (FEU) Lady Tamaraws libero completed the signing recently, with Foxies representative Jacob Lao and her agent Flavius Dulce present at the event.
Monares, a former standout of Bacolod Tay Tung High School Thunderbolts, joins fellow rookie Filipina-American setter Alohi Robins-Hardy as the Foxies’ two new players next season.
The 22-year-old, who stands at 5-foot-10, shared her excitement to bring the lessons from her UAAP career to the PVL.
“Four years ako sa FEU kaya madami-dami po talagang learnings, especially na mayroong iba’t ibang composition ng coaches ‘yung team namin and each of them parang may binibigyan kaming principles,” said Monares.
“’Yung mga values na galing sa kanila, lahat ng ‘yun gusto kong i-apply sa akin sa pro,” she added. “Siguro ‘yung one thing na natutunan is parang maging hungry sa improvement.”
Meanwhile, former Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles middle blocker AC Miner has come to terms with the ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles ahead of the 2025 PVL season.
Miner, the fifth overall pick in the recent PVL Rookie Draft, was one of the four newcomers selected by the Thunderbelles aside from Mycah Go, Riza Nogales, and Angela Jackson.
“Kung may natutunan ako sa Ateneo, siguro na nothing is certain,” Miner said in an interview. “Coming into this team, I hope makatulong ako sa rebuild with the team staff and the other players as well.”/PN
