
MANILA – Negrense Reymond Yanong clinched the ASEAN Boxing Federation (ABF) super lightweight crown with a second round stoppage win over Thai Campee Phayom on Thursday night at the Spaceplus Bangkok RCA in Thailand.
This is the Escalante City, Negros Occidental-native’s third victory in four matches this year and this is his first-ever professional boxing title since starting his career in 2013.
Yanong made his presence felt in the opening round with his volume punches before he went for the kill in the second round as he send Phayom to the ground three times.
With the victory, Yanong improved to a 16-10-1 win-loss-draw ring record, including 11 KO wins, while Phayom saw his boxing slate dropped to 25-15-2, including 17 stoppage wins.
Meanwhile, Negrense fighter Reymart Soledad maintained his unblemished record with a first round technical knockout victory against Thai boxer Nahathuch Paharn.
Soledad, a native of Victorias City in Negros Occidental, improved to a 4-0-0 mark, including two stoppage victories, while Paharn dropped to a 3-2-0 win-loss-card with all his wins via stoppages.
Antiqueño fighter Elmar Ansil Zamora, on the other hand, prevailed over Thai boxer Wisitsak Saiwaew via first round technical knockout to remain undefeated.
Zamora notched his ninth victory in as many matches, including seven stoppage wins, while Saiwaew dropped to a 7-23-1 mark, with six KO wins.
Cebuano Arvin John Paciones, for his part, successfully defended his WBA Asia light flyweight championship with a unanimous decision win over China’s Xiang Li.
Paciones maintained his undefeated record of 10-0-0, including five stoppage wins, while Li dropped to a 9-3-2 mark, with 5 KO victories./PN
