Negros elementary softball squad snags Palaro gold

CEBU City – Western Visayas elementary girls softball team emerged as champions in the 2024 Palarong Pambansa elementary softball event held at the University of San Carlos here.

The Region 6 squad, represented by Negros Occidental’s Dizon-Saison Elementary School, took home the gold medal following a 4-1 victory over Region 10-Northern Mindanao in the finals.

Spearheading the Western Visayas elementary softball squad are Janine Agundes, Kimberly Apple Basa, Ana Catalino, Mae Catalino, Angel Mae Dizon, and Cathlyn Garcia.

Completing the Negros Occidental-based squad are Jesame Maguad, Glen Padios, Starlah Joyce Secor, Althia Seva, and Liezel Tejo. Serving as coaches and trainers are Plang Benjamin Severino and Carlito Benjamin.

Meanwhile, Western Visayas secondary girls softball team, represented by Bacolod City National High School, settled for a silver medal finish following a close 6-5 loss to National Capital Region.

Among the players for Region 6 secondary girls softball team are Daniela Cabangon, Che-Restchel dela Cruz, Ciarina Daniela Eder, Trisha Karyl Hicayan, and Angelica Jean Latriz.

Also part of the silver medallist squad are Vergie Maghinay, Rhea Manalo, Alexsyres Mariano, Magdalene Nangan, Eileen Polvorido, Laira Dianne Silverio, and Jeanne Ubay.

Pontevedra National High School, which represented Western Visayas secondary girls futsal team, also contributed a silver medal to the region’s Palarong Pambansa campaign.

Bannering the Pontevedra squad are Stephanie Anung, Aliexa Mae Casi, Angel Elarmo, Joyce Gemberva, Chelsea Hope Maguad, and Ashley Kate Muleta.

Completing the Western Visayas roster are Trixia Kiler Palaran, Mariel Sancho, Arianna Belle Miraflor, and Fretzel Mae Trayco./PN
