ILOILO City – The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) has entered a new chapter in its leadership with the appointment of Police Brigadier General Ponce Rogelio Peñones as its new regional director, following the relief of Police Brigadier General Jack Wanky, who has been reassigned to head the Police Regional Office IV-A (CALABARZON).
The leadership transition took effect yesterday, June 19, marking the end of Wanky’s one year and four months of service in Western Visayas.
PRO-6 spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Arnel Solis said the reassignments were part of the Philippine National Police’s regular reshuffling of senior officials.
Peñones previously served as Deputy Regional Director for Administration (DRDA) of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO).
A member of PNPA Class of 1995, he brings with him a reputation for strict organizational discipline and strategic enforcement, honed through years of operational and administrative experience.
Meanwhile, Brigadier General Paul Kenneth Lucas, who once held a key post in PRO-6 during the COVID-19 pandemic, will replace Peñones as DRDA of NCRPO.
Wanky’s tenure as PRO-6 director was marked by major accomplishments in crime prevention, anti-drug operations, and the maintenance of peace and order throughout Western Visayas, particularly during the 2025 midterm elections which saw no major security incidents.
“General Wanky’s leadership brought notable improvements not only in internal operations but also in our public engagement. He set a clear direction in maintaining peace and order and strengthened our commitment to public trust,” Solis said.
Wanky expressed gratitude to the people of Western Visayas, as well as to media partners, for supporting the programs and campaigns of PRO-6 under his watch./PN
