‘Nights of Mardi Gras’ opens application

BACOLOD City – MassKara Festival’s Nights of Mardi Gras opened its application to aspiring contestants.

The Nights of Mardi Gras is a street parade of festival-inspired fantasy costumes set on Oct. 19 and 22 for eliminations and Oct. 24 for the finals.  

Submission of applications started on Oct. 5 and will end on Oct. 13.       

Meanwhile, the MassKara festival will also highlight international solo mask performances on its opening ceremonies set on Oct. 7.  

Festival Director Eli Tajanlangit said festivals from Cambodia and Indonesia are sending their performers.

Cambodia will perform a dance called “Mechanub” while Indonesia will present “Janger Jana Kerthi.”

Tajanlangit added these performances will show the 40th edition of the MassKara Festival at the global stage. 

The opening ceremonies are scheduled around 5 p.m. at The Bandstand in Bacolod Public Plaza./PN
