‘No anomaly in use of PACE burial aid fund’

BACOLOD City — An official of the Progressive Alliance of Capitol Employees (PACE) assured there is no irregularity in the use of funds for the funeral assistance for the organization’s deceased members.

PACE recently issued a notice to its members, saying P420 would be deducted from their salaries for the funeral aid fund.

Some members complained and called for an accounting of the collection.

Ruben Diamante, chair of PACE’s finance committee, said there is nothing to worry about.

Since 2010, PACE has released P11.16 million (at P30,000 each) to the families of 373 capitol employees who have passed away, Diamante said.

There are pending claims for 28 more deaths, thus the need to collect P420 from the capitol employees, he explained.

During months when there are no claims, the collection is “on standby,” he stressed.

Meanwhile, Diamante said the remaining performance incentive bonus for 2,400 Capitol employees (P10,000 each) will be released this week.

The PACE official said the Sangguniang Panlalawigan approved the amount’s release during its session last week.

“The release is timely. (The amount) can be used for the tuition and other needs of our children,” Diamante said./PN
