ILOILO City – No important documents were stolen from the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) in Molo district, the initial investigation of the ad hoc committee probing the office’s ransacking showed.
The CSWDO was ransacked on July 5.
“Dapat man i-size up ano ang motibo sapayan nga wala sang ginkuha sa CSWDO,” said City Administrator Hernando Galvez.
The probe on the ransacking must also ascertain if there was negligence on the part of any CSWDO staff, said Galvez.
The break-in was discovered by Police Auxiliary Vincent Tabol. He saw a glass window of the office broken.
Molo police investigators said the CSWDO stockroom was forcibly opened but an inventory showed nothing had been stolen.
At the Record Section, however, table drawers were opened and documents were strewn all over the room.
Galvez did not discount the possibility that the break-in may have something to do with the alleged pilferage of CSWDO rice stocks that the city government is investigating.
CSWDO is currently headed by an officer in charge, the office’s assistant department head Gene Garingalao.
On July 1, CSWDO chief Alfredo Villanueva retired ahead of this month’s release of the result of the investigation on the alleged pilferage of rice stocks at the office’s stockroom.
Villanueva was among several people that the ad hoc committee interviewed.
“We don’t want to second-guess the ad hoc committee’s findings,” said Galvez but he expressed confidence that Villanueva would continue to cooperate with the city government with regards to the investigation even if he’s already retired./PN
