ILOILO City – The police here have determined there was no foul play involved in the death of a 51-year-old seafarer.

Alfredo Alacapa, who is believed to have intended to surprise his family with his return, was discovered lying face down on his bed around 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 1, in his hotel room in the City Proper.

Captain Roque Gimeno III, chief of Police Station 1, said the family is convinced that Alacapa’s death resulted from natural causes. They are currently processing the necessary documents to transport his remains to Bacolod City.

Scene of the Crime Operatives reported no visible bruises or injuries on Alacapa’s body, and all of his belongings were accounted for.

The seafarer had checked into the Fine Rock Hotel at around 8 a.m. on Sept. 29. The next day, at about 11:30 a.m., he requested the staff to extend his stay.

On Sunday, at approximately 7:30 a.m., hotel staff attempted to contact him to inquire if he wished to prolong his stay further. However, when they received no response from Alacapa by 10 a.m., the hotel management decided to check his room, leading to the unfortunate discovery./PN
