ILOILO City – Drug trafficking persists in this city despite the police’s ceaseless – and at times fatal – antidrug campaign.

Seven drug suspects were arrested yesterday in two separate police operations. Shabu worth over P380,000 were seized.

The operations were conducted at Sofia Lodge in Barangay Infante, Molo district and an apartment in Q. Abeto, Mandurriao district. The suspects were:

* Restel John Ladrillo, a 31-year-old engineer, of Barangay Zamora-Melliza, City Proper
* Ladrillo’s uncle George “Tiny” Garcia, 52, Barangay Zamora-Melliza, City Proper
* Adrian Natan, 24, of Novaliches, Quezon City
* Jose Marie Ponce de Leon, 40, of Q. Abeto, Mandurriao
* Jaime Ledesma, 45, of Q. Abeto, Mandurriao
* Rean Jun Amadeo Ferrer, 40, of Barangay San Nicholas, La Paz district; and
* Smooky Orada of Barangay Malipayon, City Proper.

Ladrillo and Garcia were first to fall. They were entrapped at Room 57 of Sofia Lodge.
According to Superintendent Salvador Dagoon of the City Anti-Illegal Drugs Task Group, an undercover police officer transacted Ladrillo and Garcia for a sachet of shabu around 2:45 a.m.

The two suspects yielded four more sachets, a weighing scale and other drugs paraphernalia after their arrest.
According to the police, Ladrillo admitted using shabby and ownership.

Two hours after, the five others were arrested at the apartment being rented by Natan.

Dagoon said a police poseur buyer transacted with Natan P2,500 worth of shabu.

“Natan himself personally handed the shabu to the buyer. His other four companions were caught having a pot session,” said Dagoon.
The police recovered from the apartment 24 big sachets of shabu valued at P380,000.

Dagoon said a drug surrenderee from Mandurriao informed the police about Natan’s operation.

“After we confirmed that he was selling illegal drugs, we planned the operation,” Dagoon told Panay News.
Natan’s group reportedly got their stocks from Manila./PN
