ANTIQUE – The Office of Civil Defense Region 6 (OCD-6) has turned over 200 shelter repair kits to the Provincial Government of Antique to aid families whose homes were damaged by heavy rains last July.
The assistance was provided in response to the request of Gov. Paolo Javier. According to the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s Disaster Response Operations Monitoring and Information Center (DSWD DROMIC), the priority beneficiaries will be households whose homes were totally damaged.
Each kit contains essential tools and materials such as combination pliers, shovel, crosscut saw, claw hammer, crowbar, sledgehammer, snip, 12mm and 3mm ropes, bolo, assorted nails, tie wire, and a measuring tape with slide lock.
The items are currently stored at the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) warehouse and will be distributed to affected families in the coming days.
Gov. Javier expressed gratitude to OCD-6 for its prompt response, saying the aid will help residents begin the process of recovery and rebuilding./PN
