
BACOLOD City – More than 65,000 learners from Kindergarten to Grade 6 in all public schools here have availed themselves of the free school supplies from the city government.
A ceremonial distribution led by Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez was held yesterday, August 5, at the Rizal Elementary School.
Each learner received composition notebooks, pads of paper, intermediate pad paper, pencils, ball pens, sharpeners, and plastic envelopes.
The distribution of free school supplies is under City Ordinance No. 09-16-787, or an Ordinance providing free education materials to all students of public elementary schools.
The city government allocated an annual allocation of P15 million for this program.
For this, Mayor Benitez said they tapped the Local School Board (LSB) fund for the purchase of school supplies.
