ILOILO – To drive innovation and effectiveness in law enforcement, the Iloilo Provincial Government has launched an incentive-based competition rewarding the province’s top-performing police stations with cash prizes and recognition under a newly approved ordinance.
The “Search for the Most Outstanding Police Stations Ordinance of the Province of Iloilo” — formally known as Provincial Ordinance No. 2025-338 — was passed on third and final reading during the 139th Regular Session of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan. It seeks to assess and reward city and municipal police stations that excel in crime prevention, coordination, functionality, and innovation in public safety.
With at least P1.5 million allotted annually under the Peace and Order Program of the Office of the Governor, the ordinance aims to boost police performance while reducing both index and non-index crimes across the province’s component cities and towns.
Top-performing stations will receive the following monetary incentives in two categories (Category A for cities and 1st class municipalities, and Category B for 2nd to 4th class municipalities):
* P250,000 and a plaque of recognition for the champions
* P200,000 for first runners-up
* P150,000 for second runners-up
The prize money is earmarked for the implementation of the respective City/Municipal Public Order and Safety (C/MPOPS) and Anti-Drug Abuse Council (C/MADAC) plans, promoting sustainability and local accountability.
This move is part of the province’s intensified strategy to institutionalize community peacekeeping efforts and professionalize grassroots law enforcement through performance-based motivation./PN
