P2.7M worth of ‘shabu’ seized in Cabatuan

ILOILO – Authorities confiscated an estimated P2.7 million worth of suspected shabu in a major anti-illegal drug operation in Barangay Janipaan Olo, Cabatuan town on Friday night, July 11.

The buy-bust operation, conducted at around 7:15 p.m., led to the arrest of four individuals, including a minor. Among the suspects were Noel Deseda, 32, a resident of the said barangay; Jerry Bendol, 44, of Barangay Damo-ong, Janiuay, who was classified as a high-value target; and Joyce dela Rosa, 20, of Cadagmayan Sur, Sta. Barbara, listed as a street-level suspect.

Police recovered a total of 21 plastic sachets and eight large packs of suspected shabu, with a combined estimated weight of 400 grams.

Also seized were a caliber .38 revolver loaded with three bullets from Deseda and a 12-gauge shotgun with 12 rounds of ammunition from Bendol.

Police, meanwhile, have yet to release further details about the minor in accordance with child protection laws.

All suspects are now in police custody and are facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002). Additional charges for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition were also being prepared against Bendol and Deseda./PN
