SAN JOSE, Antique – A potable water system will be built in Barangay Manlacbo, Valderrama town. Some 200 households are expected to benefit from it.
The provincial government gave Manlacbo a P200,000 check for the spring water development project, according to Barangay Captain Virginia Sartorio.
Villagers currently get their drinking water from a deep well that costs the barangay P3,000 a month in electricity expenses, Sartorio said.
The barangay will use the financial assistance to buy pipes that will bring water from the source spring to homes.
“Our water will cost us nothing,” Sartorio said, adding that individual households may put up their own connection.
Gov. Rhodora Cadiao said the provincial government has allocated P10 million in assistance to barangays, especially the needy villages in Pandan, Culasi, Anini-y, Tobias Fornier, San Remigio, and Sibalom.
Each barangay was given P200,000 for their priority projects. (PNA)
