SAN JOSE, Antique – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has a P3,049,130,000 worth of infrastructure projects for Antique as approved under General Appropriations Act of 2017.
The budget covers roads, bridges, flood control and drainage, school buildings and facilities, and water management projects among others, said Assistant Regional Director Jose Al Fruto.
Two major road networks up for 2017 implementation are the following:
* Panay West Lateral in which the provinces of Iloilo and Antique have an initial approved budget of P380 million each, and
* San Remigio – Bugo – General Fullon Road in the amount of P250 million.
Also included were the Barangay Comon – San Pedro Coastal Road or San Jose Boulevard / Esplanade in the amount of P160 million and the completion of Solong Bridge in Sibalom for P100 million.
Part of the budget, too, is the Local Infrastructure Program for Road and Bridges in the total amount of P1,209,250,000 covering 94.78 kms of national roads (61 projects), flood control and drainage covering six projects in the amount of P222,000,000, building and other infrastructures with 32 projects in the amount of P152,000,000 and Water Management program with three projects in the amount of P15,000,000.
Fruto also bared the rehabilitation and improvement of seven major rivers in the province as priorities and likewise the infrastructure projects for tourism convergence program. (PIA-Antique/PN)
