BACOLOD City — The Paglaum Sports Complex has been declared structurally sound and safe to host the highly anticipated arena dance competition of the 2025 MassKara Festival following a joint inspection conducted by several government agencies earlier this week.
City Engineer Loben Rafael Ceballos confirmed that no structural damage was found during the assessment led by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Bacolod City District Engineering Office, in coordination with the Negros Occidental Provincial Engineering Office, the City Engineer’s Office (CEO), the Bacolod Gugma Foundation, and other concerned stakeholders.
“The inspection revealed no visible damage to the structure. The complex is safe and ready to accommodate the events,” Ceballos said.
Mayor Greg Gasataya earlier directed the conduct of the inspection to ensure the safety of festival participants and spectators, particularly for the arena dance competition scheduled on October 18 to 19. The two-day event will showcase performances under the schools and barangay categories.
The Paglaum Sports Complex will serve as the main venue for the arena performances before the street dancing parade and the announcement of winners at the Bacolod Public Plaza.
Authorities assured that coordination among engineering offices, festival organizers, and safety teams will continue throughout the event to maintain public safety.
The arena dance competition remains one of the most anticipated highlights of the MassKara Festival, drawing thousands of revelers eager to witness Bacolod’s trademark energy, artistry, and community spirit./PN
