ILOILO – Two friends riding a motorcycle died following a tragic accident in Barangay Sigangao, Zarraga town on Saturday night, October 26.

Police identified the victims as driver Lorman Amarel, 33, a security guard, and his back rider Kennery Fernandez, 32, both residents of the said place.

In an interview, Captain Dandy Ilalto, officer-in-charge of the Zarraga Municipal Police Station, shared that the two men were believed to have been drinking before the incident.

They were reportedly returning home from Pototan town when the motorcycle suddenly hit an asphalt overlay on the bridge, causing Amarel to lose control of the vehicle.

Due to the high speed, Ilalto said the victims were thrown off the motorcycle.

The police chief added that Amarel collided with the gutter while Fernandez fell into the river; they were declared dead on arrival at the hospital./PN
