Panay News, Daniel G. Fajardo Foundation bring hope to children

AS WE celebrate the merriment of holidays amid this time of adversity, Western Visayas’ No. 1 regional newspaper wishes to convey hope and continued commitment to the community.

For a decade now, Panay News, Inc. together with Daniel G. Fajardo Foundation, Inc. has been steadfast in its compassionate response to those in need.

Sang una inang si Bossing (Danny Fajardo), amu gid ni ang iya (mission), ang makabulig sa mga kubos. From his own pocket ina. Kay pa wala gid kami sang formal operations, so ang tanan nga mga efforts in cooperation ina sa aton national police, medical teams and volunteers,” shared Mary Fajardo, one of the pillars of the foundation.

Propelled by its humble beginnings, Panay News team brought hope anew to residents of Pavia, Iloilo through its gift giving drive held on Dec. 1-4, 2020 in ten child development centers namely Pal-agon, Amparo, Balabag, Ungka I, Ungka II, Pandac, Pagsanga-an, Tigum, Cabugao Norte, and Purok 4.

A total of 586 beneficiaries happily received bread from Angelina, Gardenia and Bread & Butter; snacks from Bread Pan Crackers, Minute Maid and Yakult; Birch Tree Fortified Milk; cooked spaghetti meal from Virginia Food Inc.; school supplies such as plastic envelops, crayons, pencils, erasers, sharpeners, and drawing pads printed by Panay News; health and safety must-haves including facemasks, faceshields and rubbing alcohol; and trash cans from recycled ink cans of Panay News.

The activity won’t be successful without the generosity of Miss Luzviminda Sachez, municipal social welfare and development officer of LGU Pavia, together with her coordinator Miss Edna Lizada and all CD workers. Panay News is also grateful to all council members of the ten recipient barangays.

Moreover, we would also like to extend gratitude to our advocacy partners namely Congresswoman Jam-Jam and Councilor Love-Love Baronda of Iloilo City; Iloilo Supermart; Angelina Bakeshop; Virginia Food Inc.; Lucio Tan Group, Inc.; Birch Tree Fortified Milk from KTKM Distributors Inc.; Oishi Products from Liwayway Marketing; Minute Maid from Coca-Cola Beverage Phils.; Iloilo Society Commercial; IBC or International Builders Corporation; Gegato-Abecia Funeral Homes; St. Therese Chapel; Vallacar Transit; Gardenia Bakeries Phils.; Yakult; Iloilo Izeem Commercial; Love Feeds; Jollibee; and Pavia Councilor Dan Fajardo.

It is in these moments of hope that the seeds of care and compassion are planted amid time of uncertainty while we are on way to forge a brighter future for the community./PN
