MANILA – Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo told the riding public to be creative in avoiding traffic, after accepting the challenge to use public transportation on his way to work on Friday.
Panelo said there is no mass transportation crisis in Metro Manila as he believed Filipinos can easily adapt to the “hostile” situation.
“Ang sinasabi ko lang, ang punto ko lang doon, we are very creative people. When we are confronted the situation, a hostile situation we adjust to it – iyon ang pagkamalikhain ng mga Pilipino,” Panelo added.
“Talagang magigising tayo dapat nang maaga, dahil nga may problema tayo sa traffic, we have to give ourselves allowance, dalawang oras at least o tatlo pa nga. Otherwise, hindi ka talaga aabot sa pupuntahan mo ng isang oras,” he said.
Panelo took jeepney and motorcycle rides for his nearly four-hour commute from Marikina City to the Palace, which was in response to the challenge by militant groups for him to take public transportation.
“Kailangan walong oras pa rin ang tulog mo. Kaya ang ginagawa ko, iyong kulang na oras sa gabi, tinutulugan ko ‘pag nasa sasakyan ko,” Panelo said.
“Everyone who commutes or drives suffers everyday but solutions to solve it are not insuperable, and this administration is doing its best to provide not just immediate but also long-term solutions,” added Panelo./PN
