ROXAS City – A birthday party turned fatal after one of the visitors was stabbed dead by another guest in Barangay Bunga, Mambusao, Capiz.
The victim, 47-year-old Catalino Quiachon, died of multiple stab wounds on the body, a police report showed.
Police identified the suspect as 37-year-old resident Juvy Barquillo.
According to police investigation, Quiachon and Barquillo on Saturday were both guests at a drinking party being hosted by celebrant Evangelista Vieto when a heated argument ensued between them.
“Namingot ang tag-iya sang balay nga si Vieto sang gintiklod sya sang suspect. Nakita ini sang biktima rason nga sinumbag nya ang suspetsado,” Police Staff Sergeant Argie Villasis told Panay News.
Villasis said Barquilla drew his bladed knife and stabbed Quiachon several times.
Barquilla then turned towards Vieto and also tried to stab him but the latter was able to take the knife from the suspect.
Quiachon was brought to the Mambusao District Hospital where the attending physician declared him “dead on arrival.”
It was not immediately established what was the motive in the incident.
Casilla voluntarily surrendered to the authorities and was detained in the lockup cell of the municipal police station. Charges for homicide will be filed against him./PN
