ILOILO – A fire broke out at a residential property in Barangay Gines Viejo, Passi City on Thursday afternoon, December 5, causing an estimated P1.2 million in damages.

According to Fire Officer 3 Elvis Aguilar of the Passi City Fire Station, the fire was believed to have originated from solar panels installed on the rooftop of the Molo-molo family’s home.

The blaze destroyed the second floor of the house, but firefighters managed to contain it before it could spread to the ground floor, which houses the family’s hardware and grocery business.

Aguilar added that no injuries were reported as the occupants were on the ground floor at the time of the incident.

A “fire out” was declared at 12:27 p.m., about 13 minutes after it was reported./PN
