
THE PBA will return to Western Visayas for the third time this year.
Passi City is set to host a Governors’ Cup match between Rain or Shine Elasto Painters and TNT KaTropa on Sept. 22.
Passi City Sports Development Officer III Randy Palomaria confirmed the scheduled out-of-town match at the newly built City of Passi City Arena.
It will be the Painters’ first scheduled match in the Governors’ Cup after its core was tapped to make up Gilas Pilipinas in the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, Indonesia.
James Yap, Gabe Norwood, Eduardo Daquioag, Maverick Ahanmisi, Chris Tiu, Beau Belga, Raymond Almazan, Mark Borboran, and Jewel Ponferrada will lead the Painters.
Also in the roster are Anthony Washington, Norbert Torres and rookies John Casino, Rey Nambatac and Sidney Onwubere. Serving as reinforcement is J’Nathan Bullock.
Bannering KaTropa, on the other hand, are Jericho Cruz, Terrence Romeo, Jayson Castro, Jeth Troy Rosario, Roger Pogoy, Kelly Williams, Anthony Semerad, and Ryan Roose Garcia.
Others in TNT are veterans Harvey Carey, Ryan Reyes, Frank Golla, Philip Paredes, Yousef Taha, and Celedonio Trollano. KaTropa tapped Mike Glover as import.
This is the second time the Painters and the KaTropa are playing in Western Visayas after their encounter at the University of St. La Salle in Bacolod City in the same conference on June 8, 2015. Rain or Shine won that time 88-73.
Earlier this year the PBA had an out-of-town game at the University of San Agustin Gym in lloilo City featuring KaTropa and San Miguel Beermen. The Visayas leg of the 2018 PBA All-Stars featuring Visayas team and Gilas Pilipinas was also held at the USA Gym./PN
