Pavianhon Bayasca wins silver at World Police and Fire Games

PAVIA, Iloilo – Police Staff Sergeant Ian Bayasca of the Philippine National Police (PNP) – Police Security and Protection Group (PSPG) secured a silver medal at the 2025 World Police and Fire Games held recently in Birmingham, Alabama, USA.

The Pavia, Iloilo-native Bayasca delivered a sterling performance to capture a silver medal in the Men’s Individual Kumite – 30+ Black Belt -84kg category.

“Every challenge is an opportunity to grow stronger… #worldpoliceandfiregames2025 #KARATE,” Bayasca wrote in a social media post.

Aside from Bayasca, several other PNP athletes stood out in their respective events with Police Senior Master Sergeant Jan Vincent Dela Peña capturing two golds in Men’s Individual Kata 35+ and Kumite 35+ +84kg.

Cherry Bejerano, on the other hand, also won two gold medals in the Women’s Kata and Kumite events, while Police Executiv e Master Sergean t Anthony Hoechst Alba also bagged a gold in Men’s Doubles Table Tennis.

Winning silver medals are Michael Pelaez in Men’s Decathlon (45-49), and Rex Payos in Men’s Judo and Bodybuilding, while Police Senior Master Sergeant Raquel Lacorte took home a bronze in Women’s Individual Kata Black Belt.

The World Police and Fire Games is a biennial multi-sport event that gathers thousands of law enforcement officers, firefighters, and first responders from around the globe to compete in various disciplines./PN
