MANILA – President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. is ready to work with newly-elected senators even if they are not from his endorsed Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas ticket.
According to Presidential Communications Office’s Undersecretary Claire Castro, the Chief Executive is expecting newly-elected senators to work for the interest of the Filipino people.
“Umaasa ang Pangulo na ang bawat isa sa kanila na binoto ng sambayanan ay tutugon sa pangangailangan ng taumbayan,” Castro said in a media briefing at Malacañang. “Ang trabaho nila ay para sa bayan at hindi sa iilang interes.”
She added: “So, anumang kulay ‘yan wine-welcome sila ng Pangulo at magkaisa ang bawat leaders natin upang tugunan ang mga problema at bigyan ng solusyon ang pangangailangan ng mga kababayan natin.”
Castro further said: “Inaasahan din ng administration ang lehitimong presensya ng oposisyon pero lalabanan ang obstructionist na nagtatago sa ilalim ng oposisyon, obstructionist na maaaring pansarili lang nila ang ipinaglalaban.”
From the 12 leading senators-elect, those who did not come from the Alyansa ticket are Christopher “Bong” Go, Bam Aquino, Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa, Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan, Rodante Marcoleta, and Imee Marcos.
Meanwhile, those who are aligned with the administration party are Erwin Tulfo, Panfilo “Ping” Lacson, Vicente “Tito” Sotto III, Pia Cayetano, Camille Villar, and Manuel “Lito” Lapid.
Castro further said that President Marcos was satisfied with the outcome of the senatorial elections even if not all of his supported candidates were voted to the “Magic 12.”
“Satisfied po ang Pangulo dahil nalaman po natin na ang iba pang mga naboto ay mayroong sariling dignidad, may sariling paniniwala at ang karamihan po doon ay para sa bayan at hindi para sa ibang bansa,” Castro said./PN
