PDEA agent shot in Bacolod

BACOLOD City – A personnel of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) was hospitalized. He was shot multiple times in Purok Kabugwason, Barangay Cabug here on Tuesday.

Police Station 9 commander, Major Ritchie Gohee identified the victim as Intelligence Officer 1 Jason Yayola, a resident of Barangay Canjusa, Pulupandan, Negros Occidental.

According to witnesses, two individuals riding a grey-colored vehicle were tailing the motorcycle-riding Yayola.

Upon reaching the Welcome Arc in Cabug, the suspects attacked the agent and fled towards the direction of Barangay Alijis.

The victim incurred three gunshot wounds, said Gohee.

Yayola was reported to be on a stable condition.

Probers recovered an empty .38-caliber cartridge from the crime scene.

Police also recovered Yayola’s PDEA badge along with a Jericho .45-caliber pistol, believed to be his service firearm.

Police believed the motive may be work-related.
