ILOILO City – Operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) raided a businesswoman’s house in Barangay Andagao, Kalibo, Aklan yesterday.

They arrested Jocelyn Adoc, a rice trader, after recovering 60 grams of suspected shabu around 2:10 a.m.

The recovered stuff was valued at some P.6 million, according to PDEA assistant regional director Levi Ortiz.

He described Adoc as a “high-value” drug suspect and a priority of the Aklan Police Provincial Office (APPO).

Aklan policemen assisted PDEA operatives in yesterday’s raid.

Judge Bienvenido Barrios of the Regional Trial Court, Branch 3 issued the search warrant.

“We have been targeting her since last year. It was only recently when our asset was able to get close to her and confirmed our suspicions. We’re lucky to get her,” said Ortiz.

As of this writing, tactical interrogation of the suspect was ongoing. PDEA wanted to know the source of shabu.

PDEA said the suspect’s area of coverage may even reach Boracay Island.

According to APPO director Senior Superintendent Lope Manlapaz, his men visited Adoc’s house last year as part of the Philippine National Police’s Oplan Double Barrel and issued a warning.

Adoc never showed up at the Kalibo police station or APPO to surrender, said Manlapaz.

Adoc faces a charge for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Last year, the APPO then under Senior Superintendent John Mitchell Jamili bared that not one municipality in Aklan was exempted from drug affectation.

Aklan has 17 municipalities and 327 barangays./PN
