MORE than 3,300 job hire and contract of service (COS) employees of Iloilo City Government are now covered under the National Health Insurance Program (NHIP).
The five-day registration drive is part of the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation’s (PhilHealth) continuing efforts to expand coverage and enhance public service delivery through direct partnerships with local government units (LGUs) and institutions.
“This initiative is a tangible step forward in our commitment to achieve Universal Health Care for all,” said Lazaro T. Tabsing, Acting Regional Vice President. “By reaching out directly to job hire and COS workers, we are reinforcing our shared mission with the Iloilo City Government — to make health care protection inclusive and accessible for every Filipino worker, regardless of employment status,” he added.
The Iloilo City Government has expressed full support for the program, recognizing its impact in providing quality health care access to thousands of its workforce who play vital roles in the day-to-day operations and delivery of government services.
“I would like to thank our beloved Mayor Raisa Treñas, for providing us the opportunity to avail ourselves of the PhilHealth benefits,” said Glen Gerald Barredo, staff of the City Budget Office. Meanwhile, Daryl Lim from the Local Economic Enterprise Office recalled how PhilHealth has fully covered his father’s hospital expenses. He also recognized the Iloilo City Government for ensuring his PhilHealth coverage continues, making such financial protection possible.
During the week-long activity at the Iloilo City Hall, PhilHealth personnel assisted the city government workers with validation, registration and updating of membership records, and provided comprehensive orientation on PhilHealth benefits and services.
